Port80 Software Evaluation and Licensing Guide Port80 Software is here to make your IIS Web servers and network safer, faster, and friendlier, and we are dedicated to making it easy to evaluate, purchase, and deploy our software products. Find What You Need:
Free Trial Downloads Given the complexities of Web server environments and the business-critical nature of these systems, we provide all Port80 Software software products in a free, thirty-day trial download from our Web site. 30 days after installation (15 days for w3compiler), the trial period will expire, and you will need to activate the product to continue using it. You may activate a Port80 tool at any time during the trial period by purchasing a license key from Port80 Software, Inc. and completing a quick online activation process. Most tools offer complete functionality in trial mode, and we encourage you to test Port80 tools on your Web server(s) before placing an order. Port80 Software is proud to provide free technical support before and after you buy -- most issues that our customers encounter are installation-related or configuration-related, and we will help you to tune Port80 tools correctly for your particular environment. Need more time to test Port80 Software tools? We can easily extend your trial period for another thirty days to make sure you have time to test the tools in your Web server environment, on your schedule. Please contact Port80 Software Support to request a trial extension. Assisted Evaluation If you are planning on purchasing a volume order or site license pack, Port80 Software is happy to provide special assistance with your evaluation:
Standard Licenses Once you are ready to place an order, you can purchase online with a major credit card or PayPal account via our secure site. A standard Port80 Software license covers one (1) IIS Web server (a supported version of IIS on a related Windows OS instance -- a virtual OS instance running IIS would count for one license as well) with unlimited domains, virtual servers, or shared sites. We offer free upgrades for minor versions and a nominal fee for major version upgrades. Discounts for Volume Orders Port80 offers online Deal Packs, which are the fastest way to get a great discount on Port80 Software products. Each Deal Pack includes one (1) license each of selected Port80 Software products with a discount. As our deals will change from time to time, make sure to check the site often for new Port80 promotions! If you are looking to use Port80 tools on 3 to 20 IIS Web servers (a supported version of IIS on a related Windows OS instance -- a virtual OS instance running IIS would count for one license as well), please request a quote for a great discount on your regular license order. We will send you a promo code, keyed to your e-mail, that can be used to purchase the software – simply enter your e-mail and the code into our online order form, and your discount will be applied to your final purchase. Site License Packs For orders above 21 IIS Web servers (a supported version of IIS on a related Windows OS instance -- a virtual OS instance running IIS would count for one license as well), a Port80 Site License Pack offers the best price per server and includes additional advantages over a regular license purchase:
Upgrades The following policies apply to all Port80 Software software products, including the w3compiler. Minor version upgrades for compatibility and bug fixes will always be freely available. Major version upgrades represent leaps in the product technology (with new features and benefits) and will always be more than worth the nominal cost of a major version upgrade. Minor version upgrades are always free (e.g. version 1.0 to version 1.1), and patches are available for download anytime. Major version upgrades will cost 35% of the current software price (e.g. version 1.3 to version 2.0). Please contact Port80 Software Sales to get a quote on a major version upgrade. Software Upgrade Process: Whether you are getting a minor or major version upgrade, you will also need to deploy the updated code. You can get a patch or review instructions for a full uninstall/reinstall at our patches page. For information on LinkDeny IP address database upgrades, please review the documentation for more information on options, pricing, and deployment. Licensing and Activating a Port80 Product Once You Have Purchased Licenses Please follow these instructions to license and activate your software. Activating and licensing your software over the Internet is a one-time operation that takes just a few seconds. You must be connected to the Internet, and your network configuration must allow Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connections. If you receive an error message during activation that indicates your purchased license key is invalid, make sure the license you are trying to activate is not installed on other computers (beyond the number of licenses you have purchased). If you need to deactivate the software on one computer so that it can be activated on another computer, please contact Port80 Software by phone toll free at 1.888.4.PORT80. If your server is not connected to the Internet, or if it does not allow SSL connections, we also provide an e-mail activation alternative. You can send a pre-formatted e-mail by clicking Send Activation E-mail now (located in small text at the bottom of the activation main screen), or you can copy the Activation Code characters into an e-mail. Send your e-mail activation requests to activationsupport@port80software.com to receive a final Activation Confirmation Code. From there, simply follow the product’s activation instructions. More About Our Activation Process During activation, a Port80 product creates a unique hardware identifier that represents the computer’s configuration at the time of activation. The hardware identifier does not include any of your personal information, information about software or data on your computer, or information about the specific make or model of your computer. Rather, it identifies the computer solely for the purpose of activation. The activation technology in the product can detect and tolerate changes to your computer configuration and minor upgrades will not require re-activation. If you replace your hardware, you may be required to activate the product again. When activating over the Internet, the following information is transmitted to Port80 Software for the purpose of completing activation: the hardware identifier, an activation request code, the product serial number and license key, and the name, version, and language of the product and operating system. This anonymous information is used to generate a valid license for your product. Have any questions? Please contact Port80 Software today! Go to Port80 Products Go to Port80 Home Page |
